Video too large to email? Send a link that plays in the browser
Gmail and Outlook.com allow attachments up to 25 MB, and the Outlook desktop app 20 MB by default, and a single minute of phone video is often bigger than that. Upload the video to vewo and put the link in your email instead. The person you send it to clicks it and the video plays in their browser, with no download and no account.
Email attachment limits
| Service | Largest attachment |
|---|---|
| Gmail | 25 MB |
| Outlook.com | 25 MB |
| Outlook desktop app | 20 MB (default) |
Limits checked October 2026.
When a file is over Gmail's limit, Gmail swaps it for a Google Drive link, which opens Drive rather than a player and can show "still processing" for large videos.
How to send it with vewo
- Open vewo.io and drop the video on the page. No account needed.
- Copy the link when the upload finishes.
- Paste the link into your email and send. It works in Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and any other email app.
How big a video can you send?
| Max upload | Quality | Link lasts | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guest | 1 GB | 720p | 7 days |
| Free account | 5 GB | 1080p | 30 days |
| Pro | 50 GB | 4K | a year |
Guest links stop working after 7 days. Make a free account and your videos are kept for 30 days and can be up to 5 GB.
Sending it for work
With a free account you can make a video link-only, so it opens only for people who have the link. On Business you can also add a password, keep videos as long as you like, and share them from a team library.
Other ways, and their catch
- Gmail's Google Drive link. Fine for documents; for video the recipient lands in Drive, may need access, and large files can take a while before they play.
- WeTransfer. The recipient downloads the whole file before watching, and the free plan is limited to 10 transfers and 3 GB per month.
- Compress it. You can get under 25 MB, but only by lowering the quality a lot.
- Send a vewo link. It plays in the browser straight away.
Questions
Will the recipient need to download anything?
No. The link opens a page where the video plays.
Can I stop other people from seeing it?
Yes. On a free account, set the video to link-only so it opens only for people with the link.
How long does the link work?
7 days as a guest, 30 days with a free account, a year on Pro.
Is there a watermark?
No, on any plan.
Free, no account needed, no watermark.
